I want to add my first customer and the device they dropped off
Name and phone. That’s the minimum. Everything else can wait.
Adding the customer
Sidebar → Customers → New customer. Type their first name, last name, and phone number. We normalise the phone to international format automatically — you can type "0821234567" and we’ll store it as "+27821234567".
Email is optional. You can leave it blank and add it later if they want estimates or invoices by email. If they only want WhatsApp, you don’t need email at all.
Adding the device they dropped off
After saving the customer, you land on their detail page. Click "Add device" near the top. We call it an "asset" in the system because it’s vertical-generic — for a watch repair shop it’s a watch, for a bike shop it’s a bicycle.
- Pick the asset type. The dropdown is pre-seeded based on your vertical — PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, iPhone 15, MacBook Pro, Citizen wristwatch, Trek mountain bike, depending on what you set in onboarding.
- Brand and model are free-text with a datalist of common suggestions. Type what’s on the device. If it’s unusual, just type it.
- Some verticals get extra fields. Watch repair asks for movement type and strap material. Jewellery repair asks for metal and stone. Bicycle repair asks for frame size and wheel size. These get saved on the asset record so you don’t have to ask twice.
What we DON’T ask for
We don’t make you fill in an address, ID number, date of birth, or any of the other guff most CRMs demand on the first screen. If you need any of that later, it’s on the customer’s detail page under "More info". Most shops never touch it.
