I want to sign in and set my shop up

Pick a name, pick what you fix, pick your country. You can change all of it later.

Signing in for the first time

Go to benchworks.app and click Sign in. Type the email you signed up with. We send you a one-time link — click it, and you’re in. No password to forget.

If you didn’t get the email in a minute, check spam, then click "Send it again". If it still doesn’t arrive, email help@benchworks.app and a real person will sort it.

The onboarding wizard

First time you land in the dashboard we ask three things. None of them are permanent — you can change them later in Settings.

  • Your shop slug. This is the bit that shows up in URLs — yourshop.benchworks.app. Pick something short. Lowercase, letters and dashes.
  • Your vertical. What you fix. Console repair, phone repair, watch repair, bicycle repair, locksmith, and so on. This decides what defaults you get — device types, asset hints, sensible placeholders.
  • Your country. South Africa, UK, Australia, New Zealand. This sets your currency, your tax rules, and which payment processor we route you to (Paystack for SA, Stripe for the rest).

Skipping the AI keys for now

At the end of the wizard we ask if you want to paste your Anthropic / OpenAI / Gemini keys. You can skip this entirely. Every AI feature is opt-in and degrades to a plain manual experience if no key is set. Come back to Settings → AI keys when you’re ready.

Landing on the dashboard

You’re now at /dashboard. The sidebar on the left is your map: Inbox, Tickets, Customers, Leads, Parts, Settings. The big empty space in the middle is intentional — that’s where the work goes once it starts coming in.

If anything looks off, Settings → General is the place to fix your shop name, locale, timezone, and the disclaimer customers see when they drop something off.
